FinScan Marine Biometrics was announced as the winner of the “AIMEX – Most innovative exported product” award on Thursday night at the AIMEX hosted event during the 2010 Sydney International Boat Show.FinScan entered the recently released Bio eStart SOLO with ESM ( Elevated safety mode ) into the most innovative product category.
“We are ecstatic about winning the Award, and being recognised for our innovation in the Australian marine industry. We have worked very hard, and have had to think outside the square to develop our technologies. It’s great to see the uptake by OEM’s and the product standing on its own two feet.
Our ESM safety mode is not about helping protect the boat and occupants when it rolls off the show room floor, as we all know, new boats are generally trouble free. It’s about offering ongoing occupant protection five years down the track when the chance of fuel system failure increases due to age and tampering ” said FinScan Director , Carlo Khamu .
The Bio eStart SOLO was developed to bring a SAFE engine starting solution to boats under 28ft, that are more likely to have a single gasoline engine , and are at higher risk of fuel vapour explosion. FinScan's ESM mode takes advantage of the electronic control FinScan has over engine starting. By controlling the boats blower, and utilising the integrated FinScan gasoline Fume / Vapour detector, FinScan have delivered the safest, centralised engine starting process available in the world. This combination greatly reduces the chance of accidental explosion due to gasoline vapour build up in an enclosed engine space.
The Bio eStart SOLO with ESM becomes a critical safety device by taking the operator through the engine starting process. This is done by forcing blower operation times, disabling engine starting if dangerous conditions occur, and taking necessary action automatically to remove the vapour threat from the boat. The Bio eStart SOLO is available now, with or without ESM mode, and is already used as standard equipment on many production boat brands.
